Ultra Trail Fagaras 31.08 - 02.09.2012

... prologue to Avrig - SB, followed by two days in the grandest alpine region of the Romanian Carpathians. Wild slopes, narrow saddles, shady forests, sharp ridges and dozens of glacial lakes, all waiting for you to rediscover its in a mountain running race that crowns the series of outdoor events CarpathianMan ®.
Sibiu, Arges and Brasov, the three counties met the Ultra Trail Fagaras routes wanderings north and south of the Fagaras ridge. For this year there were prepared two team races:

UTF3 - 70 km long, 5420m ascent and 5240m descent into three stages
UTF1 - 32.3 km long, 3120m ascent and 2370m descent into one stage

Ultra Trail Fagaras, the ultimate piece in CarpathianMan ® puzzle, will be held this year for the first time, finishing a Romanian project which promote endurance and outdoor sports.
Putting the project into practice began in October 2006 with a first edition of the popular Marathon Piatra Craiului (mountain running), followed few months later by Postavaru Night (ski mountaineering) and in 2008, Sinaia Winter Race (ski mountaineering). Two years more and it was launched the 3 stages mountain bike event: Bike 3Mountains.

Besides organizing the series of events, CarpathianMan ® supports environmental protection and restoration of damaged areas. Preserve and promote traditional lifestyle, the activity and crafts closely connected with mountains. It also try to promote the names and activities of the people which are honor our nation.
